What’s the one thing that we all wish for? Deep down, what we all want is to let our voices be
heard. Every single one of us aims to express ourselves & let our voices count in whatever we do. We’d
better be active members of the process rather than be marginalized actors that follow every demand or are
pushed to the side.
Let’s accept the fact that most people feel that their voices aren’t heard or even welcome. This situation isn’t
only limited to a particular country, industry, or business but it's affecting everyone in absolutely any
parts of the world. This isn't just a small concern but is a huge tragedy.
On the brighter note, what’s good about this is that regardless of your role, you can be the key to helping
others to be heard through the leadership that starts with you.
Through the application of the Believe – Behave – Become framework, I urge you to consider how well you
understand and accept the value of all voices.
That what you create in the physical world starts in your mind or simply - in order to
create, you must first imagine. You need
to reflect on how well you value others’ voices by providing answers to these questions:
Strategies On How To Achieve Our Ultimate Need For Our Voice
Do you acknowledge that everybody’s voice matters?
Have you seen people you work with who were marginalized or left out on essential conversations?
Can it be possible that whatever role you play in a certain group, you can still help get the less heard voices into them.
Do you believe that some people might have something valuable to add to the
conversation? If so, which conversations
and which people (name them)?
Changing your beliefs and behaviors will definitely lead to changes in yourself, your team,
and the entire company. Yet, change can be difficult - unless the benefits are worthwhile you might get
tempted to go back to your old ways. Take a moment to reflect & think about what you, your employees,
and the company may achieve from bringing more voices into the conversation as you answer these
questions:
If those who presently don’t have a voice start to contribute more, how will it impact them? Will they be more engaged, committed, or driven?
How should you change? Will you learn new things or experience better results? Will
people see you differently? Will you see yourself differently?
How will the company benefit? What might be achieved in both the short and long-run?
It’s good to think that everyone has something valuable to add to every conversation. Once
you allow other voices to be heard you must determine what should be listened to and acted upon. As the
saying goes, create an environment where everyone gets their say but not necessarily their way.
